During Holy
Week, Key Stage 2 pupils wrote an Easter poem in their French lesson using colours
and similes.
They used
bilingual dictionaries to look up words and they had some interesting
ideas.
This was also a
great opportunity to practise constructing sentences
using nouns in French. The children recalled that nouns
in French are either of masculine or of feminine gender and that you can
use articles (le, la, l’, les, un, une,
des) in a number of ways that we don't in English - in English, we would
omit them.
For example:
“Violet comme la lavande” - Purple like lavender
Thank you to Julie Prince and Clare Seccombe for sharing this creative idea and resources via the Languages In Primary Schools group.
